Presence of armed police mission necessary condition for Donbas elections
It will be possible to ensure a safe electoral process in Donbas only if an armed police mission is deployed in the region, Ukrainian presidential administration deputy chief Kostiantyn Yeliseyev said.
"We will continue to work both in the Normandy format and within the OSCE [Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe] in Vienna so that such a mission's competence would be clearly outlined and its mandate would be clearly determined because proper security and fair elections in Donbas are out of the question without such a mission," he said at a press briefing on Friday.
