Pyatt urges Rada to introduce judiciary amendments to Constitution
U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt has urged Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada to amend the Constitution in the part of judiciary.
"I urge the Verkhovna Rada to consider their final adoption [of constitutional amendments on judiciary] as quickly as possible," the ambassador said at a conference on constitutional reform in Kyiv on Thursday.
Pyatt stressed that the U.S. considered the constitutional amendments introduced by Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko to be in compliance with the European justice standards.
In his words, the U.S. also insisted that the judicial reform should be the most important for Ukraine at the moment.
Pyatt also commended on the first steps to implement this reform, in particular the launch of the evaluation of judges' qualification.
