Two subgroups of Contact Group for Ukraine may converge in Minsk before Sept 8 – source

Subgroups addressing security and political affairs in eastern Ukraine may meet in Minsk before September 8, a source in the security subgroup has told Interfax.

"The security subgroup is due to gather in Minsk again before the September 8 meeting of the Contact Group. Before this meeting, the sides are supposed to study a document on the pullback of weapons with a caliber under 100mm drafted yesterday and to make their remarks if any so that the subgroup is able to coordinate the final text and to prepare it for initialing," the source said.

The political affairs subgroup may meet in Minsk before September 8 as well, he said.

"Indeed the political affairs group is planned to meet; the format is yet unclear and a decision as to whether to meet in person or to have a videoconference will be made as work proceeds," the source said.
