No open fire in Chornobyl Puscha, radiation levels twice below limits - Emergencies Service of Ukraine
As of morning on Saturday the staff of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine and other services continues working on the fire site in the exclusion and mandatory resettlement zone of the Chornobyl Puscha forestry area.
"As of 08:00 on August 15, the fire burning between the former villages of Kovshylivka and Buda Varovychi had been confined on an area of 70 hectares. There is no open fire. Tree stumps and remaining dry wood are being watered… Extinguishment continues 24 hours a day," reads the report posted on Saturday morning.
Radiation levels in the area are 0.025 micro-Roentgen per hour, which is below the limits of 0.050 micro-Roentgen per hour. Radiation levels in Kyiv stand at 0.013 micro-Roentgen per hour, within the normal limits of 0.030 micro-Roentgen per hour.
