Lutsenko not ruling out holding referendum on state structure, international policy, status of Donbas in autumn
Head of the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko parliamentary faction Yuriy Lutsenko does not rule out holding a referendum on the state governance, international policy and the status of certain areas of Donbas simultaneously with local elections.
The politician said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine that he supports the idea of holding a referendum this autumn.
"We can offer people the basic questions – those on state governance and international policy. I think that such a referendum would be useful," Lutsenko said.
However, he did not rule out that the referendum could take place simultaneously with the local elections.
"One of the possible issues of the referendum is the attitude of people to providing the temporarily occupied territory with a special status," he said.
The next local elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 25 this year.
