Ukrainian General Staff Chief informs EUMC about Ukraine situation, asks for help
Ukrainian General Staff Chief Gen. Viktor Muzhenko has told European colleagues at an EU Military Council (EUMC) meeting about the detention of two Russian citizens in Ukraine.
"I raised the issue but it was not discussed," Muzhenko told reporters in Brussels on Tuesday after he had met with the chiefs of general staff from 28 EU member states.
He also said he had informed EUMC members about the current situation in Ukraine and asked for help.
"We thanked EU countries for their support and expressed our hope to continue cooperation. Hopefully, the declared support to Ukraine will acquire physical dimensions," the general remarked.
He added that Ukraine had proposed a number of areas of possible assistance to Kyiv.
"For starters, this is the question of military-technological cooperation, including the supply of non-lethal weapons," Muzhenko said.
The possible deployment of an EU peacekeeping mission to Ukraine was also highlighted, he said.
