Rada approves voluntary uniting of local communities - law
The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a law on the voluntary uniting of territorial communities.
265 MPs voted for the law at second reading.
Before the vote, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Hroisman said that according to this law the uniting of territorial communities would be entirely voluntary.
"You will see it will be voluntary. We together… will be able to show the success of combining strong and weak local communities, where they will be able to become truly strong," he said after the document had been passed.
According to him, small villages, when combined, without losing the status of a village "will be able to receive 60% of profit tax from citizens."
The parliament speaker noted that the communities would be able to manage their lands independently, "regardless of the region and district will approve their budgets, i.e. receive full financial independence, independence of competence in providing services to residents."
