Steinmeier: US weapon to lead to more deaths in eastern Ukraine

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has recommended the US to abandon supplying weapon to Ukraine.

"There can be no, I am saying this to our American friends who are considering supplying weapons, military solution to this conflict. This will lead to more deaths," Steinmeier said in an interview with Nürnberger Nachrichten German newspaper on Wednesday.

He urged the conflicting sides for a diplomatic solution of the situation.

"We have to make them to solve this conflict through negotiations," the minister said.

The New York Times earlier reported that US is considering the option of sending weapon to Ukraine.
