Heletei says his work as defense minister was successful
Valery Heletei, the recently dismissed defense minister of Ukraine, said he did a good job when in office.
"After the Verkhovna Rada approved my candidacy for the post of minister, the president set the tasks to fight crime, terrorism, and organized criminal groups – everything I have done all my professional life. I have coped with those tasks," Heletei told a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.
"The president has set me out other tasks, outside the Defense Ministry," Heletei said, without giving details.
Heletei said he is convinced that the parliament will approve a new candidate for the post of defense minister on Tuesday. He wished his successor luck in this post, adding that his tasks will be very different from his.
Poroshenko accepted Heletei's resignation on Sunday evening.
