Militants continue storming Donetsk airport, shell checkpoints near Schastia
The situation in the east of Ukraine remains difficult as militants do not stop their attempts to storm the Donetsk airport and continue shelling the positions of Ukrainian troops on its territory, the press center for the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) has reported.
"From 1930 yesterday to 0400 today, terrorists carried out four mortar attacks on the airport in Donetsk. There are no casualties on our side, whereas the enemy's losses are being specified," the press center reported on Facebook early on Thursday.
Militants also shelled the checkpoints of Ukrainian security forces guarding a thermal power plant in Schastia, which supplies electricity to Luhansk.
"At about 0400, some 50 armed terrorists attacked a checkpoint near the eastern part of the settlement of Bohdanivka," the press center reported, not saying whether Ukrainian soldiers were killed or injured.
In general, illegal armed groups shelled the positions of Ukrainian troops 33 times in the past 24 hours.
