Ukrainian private companies intend to import about 4 million tonnes of coal from Russia by late 2014, Ukraine's Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuriy Prodan has told journalists in Kyiv.
"According to the data I have, private companies are planning by the end of the year to supply more than 4 million tonnes of coal from Russia," he said.
According to him, in particular the matter concerns DTEK energy holding and PJSC Donbasenergo, and deliveries will be made by rail.
The minister also said it is planned to supply through ports about one million tonnes of coal from the Republic of South Africa for the needs of PJSC Centrenergo.
Previously DTEK CEO Maksym Tymchenko in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine reported that the energy holding plans to deliver 500,000 to 600,000 tonnes per month by rail.
