Poroshenko to sign lustration law by Oct 10 – presidential envoy in parliament
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will sign the lustration bill into law by October 10, Presidential Representative in Parliament Ruslan Kniazevych said.
"As promised, he [President Poroshenko] will certainly do this by the deadline set by the Constitution – the 10th [of October]. As soon as he determines, we'll certainly see an official posting on the presidential Web site, saying that the law has come into effect," Kniazevych said on the air of Ukraina TV Channel on Tuesday evening.
As reported, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the lustration bill at the third attempt on September 16. Parliament Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov signed the document on September 25.
Ukrainian Premier Arseniy Yatseniuk said that about 1 million persons would come within the purview of this law. He said that all chain of command would fall under this law.
