Ukraine to buy arms and equipment for ATO forces only after trials in combat zone - defense minister
Further purchases of arms for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry will be conducted after trials in the area of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO), Defense Minister Valeriy Heletei has said.
"We want to see all that we purchase, how effective it is in the area of the anti-terrorist operation," he told reporters during his visit to the 11th specialized exhibition "Arms and Security" in Kyiv on Wednesday.
He said that this approach would help see firsthand what the ministry was buying and how effective weapons and military equipment are in the current conditions.
Heletei added that the exhibition was attended by a group of Defense Ministry experts who are studying the presented samples for their purchase. He noted that many types of equipment presented at the exhibition were already being tested in the combat zone.
