Combat conducted in Ilovaisk urban areas, Ukrainian army loses nine men killed

Five soldiers of the Donbas territorial defense battalion and four of the Shakhtarsk battalion have died in combat in Ilovaisk urban areas in the Donetsk region on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, advisor of the Ukrainian Interior Minister Anton Heraschenko said.

There is fighting on the city streets and the Donbas battalion has taken control of a half of the town divided by a railroad line, Heraschenko wrote on Facebook this morning.

He said the terrorists had entrenched themselves in the other half of the town and offered "fierce resistance". Roadblocks have been deployed along the Ilovaisk perimeter to prevent the arrival of terrorists' reinforcements.
