Water supplies stoppage menaces Donetsk

The Donetsk water and draining system authorities have urged residents of Donetsk to stock up on water.

"The city's water supply system will be shut down in Donetsk after 2100. The damaged electric power line has paralyzed supplies from the city's main source of fresh water – Verkhniokalmiuska filtering station," the Donetsk City Council said on its Web site.

It said it could not immediately assess the seriousness of the damage, or the time to be spent on repairs, given the continuing fighting.
