Poroshenko gives government five days to designate ATO soldiers combatants
Kyiv, June 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has ordered the government to within five days settle the issue of granting the status of combatant to servicemen involved in the counter-terror operation.
"The day before yesterday at the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, I set a task to National Guard commander and interior minister to, within five days, make sure that everybody fighting in the area of the counter-terror operation obtains the status of combatant," the president told the journalists in Kyiv on Wednesday.
He added that the chiefs of defense and security services promised the president that every soldier would receive a relative document after their term of service in the ATO area comes to an end.
Poroshenko said that he wouldn't allow any manipulations in this matter.
