Donetsk ready for May 9 celebration - authorities

Donetsk is ready to mark Victor Day and law enforcement authorities are getting ready to prevent possible provocations during public events, said Serhiy Taruta, the head of the Donetsk regional administration.

"We hope, like the whole country does, that May 9 will pass peacefully, we understand that provocations are possible. Certain towns have canceled the festivities. We hope to be able to celebrate the day without major upheavals. This is what all our law enforcement efforts are aimed at," Taruta told reporters in Kyiv on Tuesday.
