The police have detained eight aggressive people following April 28 clashes between participants in a rally for Ukraine's unity and pro-Russian demonstrators in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, a Donetsk region police spokesman said on Tuesday.
After their rally was over, about 1,000 pro-Ukrainian supporters moved toward the Donetsk City shopping center, he said.
"At an intersection of Artem and Panfilov Streets they were attacked by pro-Russian activists who arrived from the Donetsk regional administration building," he said.
During the clashes 14 people were injured on both sides. Of them, four were hospitalized.
Donetsk deputy police chief Mykola Kriuchenko was slightly injured when he intercepted an improvised explosive device and threw it away.
