Ukrainian Foreign Ministry probes Firtash detention in Vienna
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is probing the foreign media reports stating that Dmytro Firtash, a Ukrainian businessman and the head of the council of the Ukrainian Employers' Federation, was arrested in Austria, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Danylo Lubkivsky told a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.
According to the Austrian publication OE24.at, Firtash was detained in Vienna at the request of the FBI. He is suspected in the creation of an organized criminal group.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said it has not put Firtash on any wanted persons list. "The Ukrainian Interior Ministry has not put Firtash on any wanted persons lists," the press service for the Ukrainian Interior Ministry told Interfax on Thursday.
