Over 50 killed in riots in central Kyiv, says Rada's ombudsman
Over 50 people have been killed in riots in the center of Kyiv, Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner Valeria Lutkovska said.
"A horrible tragedy has been happening on the streets in Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine. Information that I have indicates that about 50 people have been killed as of today, but there have been reports that there are many more victims. Hundreds of people have been hospitalized," Lutkovska said in a statement on Thursday.
Lutkovska said she had personally inspected a number of hospitals in Kyiv. "They are packed, there are dozens of people with gunshot wounds there," she said.
