Police probing 40 cases on mass riots in Ukraine – Interior Ministry
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry is investigating 40 criminal cases on mass disorder, Deputy Chief of the Interior Ministry's Main Investigation Department Oleh Tatarov has said.
The ministry's press service reported on Wednesday that the police were investigating 24 criminal proceedings on events in Kyiv.
These cases concern intentional murders, organization of mass clashes and attempts on the lives of police officers, the press office said.
At the same time, cases have been opened on the seizure of administrative buildings, mass clashes and arson with regard to administrative buildings in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn and Rivne regions of Ukraine.
Seventy-seven individuals have been arrested by the police and 58 of them have already been officially detained, Tatarov said.
"It is currently being decided on the detention of ten more people who committed criminal offences," he said.
