No incidents reported in Kyiv's Independence Square last night
Protesters in Kyiv's central Independence Square are keeping warm near barrel fires as temperatures plunged to 21 degrees below zero in the city, an Interfax correspondent reported.
Activists are addressing protesters from the stage installed on the square. Several dozen protesters can be seen near the stage. Passers-by stop by occasionally to listen to the activists' speeches.
There are some 150 protesters on Hrushevsky Street, where a tense stand-off continues between demonstrators and riot police.
One of the protesters said that no incidents had occurred at the site last night, except for a fireworks salvo set off by demonstrators in the direction of the government headquarters at around 0500.
Protesters said they had dedicated this fireworks display to a students' rally that was broken up by police in Independence Square on November 30, 2013.
