Court overturns Zhytomyr council's decision to set up people's council
A court has granted a request from prosecutors of the Zhytomyr region in Ukraine by discontinuing the upshot of Zhytomyr City Council's decision to set up a people's council and banning its publication before the court ruling takes effect.
The court also overturned the council's decision to send a letter to the Ukrainian president, Zhytomyr regional prosecutors said on Wednesday.
These decisions were made in violation of the Ukrainian Constitution and the laws regarding local self-government, the Ukrainian parliamentary elections and the Ukrainian presidential elections, prosecutors said.
