Barroso speaks about EU's possible actions against Ukraine

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso has said the EU is ready to consider "possible actions" against Ukraine.

"We are genuinely concerned about where these developments are taking Ukraine and will continue following closely these developments, as well as assessing possible actions by the EU and consequences for our relations," he said in Brussels on Wednesday, speaking about the situation in Ukraine.

Barroso also said that the EU is "following with great concern the recent restrictions on fundamental freedoms including freedom of expression and freedom of the media."
