Barroso secures European Commission's guarantees on financial support for Ukraine - Cabinet
European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, in a letter to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, has provided guarantees from the European Commission regarding financial support for Ukraine if Russia does not fulfill its commitments on the gas price, reads a statement posted on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday.
"The results of the talks [in Brussels] were set in such documents as… a letter from European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso to Ukrainian President Poroshenko, who secured guarantees from the European Commission regarding financial support for Ukraine if Russia does not fulfill its commitments on the gas price, as well as the EC's readiness to promote a further increase in reverse gas supplies to Ukraine from the EU member states," reads the statement.
