Georgian deputies fight in parliament over Ukraine
Deputies from majority and opposition parties fought at the plenary session of the Georgian parliament on Wednesday, the Interfax correspondent reported.
The reason behind the incident was the demand of opposition deputy Giorgi Baramidze to encourage supporters of Ukraine's European integration with a special resolution and to condemn the violence on participants of peaceful rallies in Kyiv.
In response representatives of the parliamentary majority demanded that deputies of the former ruling party United National Movement give a political assessment of forceful dispersals of the Georgian opposition rallies in Tbilisi in 2007 and 2011.
The dispute between deputies escalated into a fight, in which no one sustained serious injuries.
Opposition representatives said following the incident that they demanded the parliamentary majority apologize publicly, otherwise they refused to participate in plenary meetings.
