Source: police have no orders to disperse pro-EU demos in Kyiv
An informed source has said that police have not been ordered to disperse pro-European Union demonstrations in central Kyiv.
"There has been no dispersal order. It's mainly Interior Forces personnel who are posted in the center," the source told Interfax-Ukraine.
On Monday large numbers of Interior Forces troops were bussed into Ukraine's capital from bases outside the city, but police claimed that the reason was a routine rotation of law enforcement personnel charged with maintaining law and order in the city.
Meanwhile, an Interfax-Ukraine reporter said Independence Square and Khreschatyk, Kyiv's central avenue, were under solid police cordons.
