Ukraine's representative to UN is indignant at dispersal of EuroMaidan in Kyiv
Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Yuriy Serheyev has said he is indignant at the events on Independence Square on the night of November 30, and said it was an encroachment on the constitutional rights of citizens and international law.
"Everything that is going on in Ukraine today, not just in Kyiv, but all around the world is the response of people who want freedom, dignity," he said while delivering a speech at the EuroMaidan meeting in New York on Monday.
"I'm indignant together with you at the encroachment on the constitutional rights of our citizens, on the right to express our will, thought, and freedom of peaceful assembly. I'm indignant that there was an encroachment on international law, the universal declaration of the human rights, which is part of us."
The ambassador also said he demanded the holding of an inquiry into the events and the reasons behind them.
