EU, Ukraine still have room for maneuver in situation with Tymoshenko, says MEP Kowal
Head of the Delegation of the European Parliament on Cooperation with Ukraine Pawel Kowal believes that Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych can still resolve the issue of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
Kowal said this in a comment on the Verkhovna Rada's failure to adopt any of the bills on the possibility of medical treatment of prisoners abroad.
"The decision in Tymoshenko's case is on the president's side. The situation hasn't changed and he is still able to operate," the MEP said on Twitter.
He said that the European Union could sign the association agreement with Ukraine and influence the situation after the signing and before its ratification.
Both parties have room for maneuver, Kowal said.
