Ukrainian president hopes to reach agreement on price for Russian gas
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych is still hopeful that Ukraine and Russia could reach a compromise on the price for Russian natural gas.
"Unfortunately, the global economic crisis and the problems that we received concerning the gas price in 2010, which have caused us over $20 billion in losses […] and all ensuing consequences, have been followed now by a significant decline in trade turnover with Russia, nearly by 25%," Yanukovych said.
"We have not stopped negotiations with our neighbors and are working with them. There is the hope that we will find a common language in this very, very complicated issue," Yanukovych said while inspecting a newly-built perinatal center before its unveiling in Zaporizhia on Thursday.
