With charges against Vlasenko, Yanukovych scuppers Association Agreement with EU - Tymoshenko
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has said that the institution of criminal proceedings against her defense counsel Serhiy Vlasenko jeopardizes the future of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union and has blamed Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych for this.
"In recent weeks, Viktor Yanukovych has been kicking the Association Agreement to death. The opening of absurd criminal cases against my defense counsel Serhiy Vlasenko were brought deliberately and in cold blood, as the final blow to the heart of Ukrainian hopes for the signing of the agreement," Tymoshenko said in a statement, which was read out to reporters in Kyiv on Tuesday by her daughter, Yevhenia.
