Former Ukrainian parliamentarian and a defense counsel of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Serhiy Vlasenko, has been notified of being suspected of repeatedly causing bodily harm to his ex-wife Natalia Okunska.
The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO) told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday that Vlasenko was summoned to give his explanations on the issue.
Earlier, the head of the Batkivschyna parliamentary faction, Arseniy Yatseniuk, announced that Vlasenko had been arrested. Later on, he said that the PGO was holding investigatory proceedings against Vlasenko.
In March 2013, the PGO reported that it closed the criminal case on Okunska's appeal against the non-fulfillment by Vlasenko of a court ruling regarding partition of property.
As of April 2013, one case against Vlasenko on the payment of alimony remained open. This case remains open until Vlasenko's child attains adulthood.
