Cox-Kwasniewski mission should say if bill on convicts' treatment abroad can settle Tymoshenko issue
The European Parliament's observation mission of former European Parliament President Pat Cox and former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski should come to a conclusion on whether the passing of a bill on treatment of convicts abroad by the parliament of Ukraine satisfies their proposal on the partial pardoning of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, French Ambassador to Ukraine Alain Remy said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
"The Cox-Kwasniewski mission is in Kyiv now. And they will estimate how this bill [on the treatment of convicts abroad] can replace a draft instruction on partial pardoning. Everything depends on the content of the bill," the diplomat said.
"We know that three draft laws [that could settle the Tymoshenko issue] are on the table and everything depends on the conclusions of Cox and Kwasniewski. If their recommendations support the passing of such a bill, then we will have a solid base and grounds for the fulfillment of Ukraine's obligations required for the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU," Remy said.
