Yanukovych: Ukraine dissatisfied with level of cooperation with European Energy Community
Ukraine is dissatisfied with the level of cooperation with the European Energy Community, President Viktor Yanukovych has said.
"Ukraine, as a member of the Energy Community, is meeting all of its commitments to the European Union. In addition, we are trying to very quickly respond to any decisions or recommendations. But we're dissatisfied with the level of cooperation with the Energy Community," he said at a joint press conference with Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite in Vilnius on Wednesday.
In particular, Yanukovych said that there had been no support for Ukraine in its gas relations with Russia over three years of Ukraine's membership of the Energy Community.
"First and foremost, we received no support over these three years, even sympathy in matters of gas relations - the force majeure circumstances in which Ukraine found itself. We have not felt this," he said.
Yanukovych said that Ukraine does not know whether any documents were signed in consultation with the Energy Community, "concerning, for example, the construction of the South Stream."
"They directly influence the interests of Ukraine, and our view was not taken into account, and we didn't even receive any answers to the questions we raised," he said.
