The opposition will decide by December 10 on the start of the collection of signatures in support of a nationwide referendum on the decriminalization of Article 365 of the Criminal Code under which former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was convicted, a defense lawyer for the ex-premier, Andriy Kozhemiakin, has said.

"I think that by January 10 we will decide on the technology and the launch of the procedure for collecting signatures in support of the referendum," he told reporters on Thursday after meeting with the former prime minister in Ukrzaliznytia's Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 in Kharkiv.

He also said that he had discussed with Tymoshenko the actions of the Batkivschyna faction in parliament and the Batkivschyna Party next year.

"We discussed the actions of the faction during new plenary meetings, the actions of the party, as well as the preparation of the necessary bills aimed at the social protection of people, economic growth, and budget amendments. Yulia Volodymyrivna [Tymoshenko] also discussed with me the issue related to my appointment as chairman of the committee on legislative support for law enforcement agencies, and we discussed the issue on the use of this post in the committee in the fight against corruption in the current government," Kozhemiakin said.
