Rada sets up ad hoc commission to investigate election abuses in some constituencies
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Tuesday set up a temporary investigative commission to probe election abuses in a number of single-member constituencies.
A total of 232 lawmakers voted for a relevant resolution proposed by Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn.
The resolution suggested MPs should decide on the number and composition of the temporary investigative commission. The Prosecutor General's Office, the High Council of Justice, the Higher Qualification Commission, and the Central Election Commission should study the materials in the troubled constituencies.
Representative of the opposition in parliament spoke against the adoption of this resolution, suggesting that its aim is to distract the attention from the election fraud.
