Ukraine was able to return home hundreds of citizens as part of a large exchange of prisoners of war (POWs), said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Eight stages of a large exchange. Hundreds of our people have returned home since the beginning of June. Our youth, defenders of Mariupol, those who held the defense in Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions. The wounded, seriously ill. Those who were considered missing. Most of them had been in captivity since 2022," Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel on Sunday.
He stressed that among those returned were not only military personnel, but also civilians.
"This is the result of the efforts made by a large team of Ukraine. We continue and will work until we return everyone, everyone without exception," the president emphasized.
