Costa: EU ready to work with partners on peace plan for Ukraine
President of the European Council Antonio Costa assures that the European Union is ready to work with partners on a peace plan for Ukraine.
Costa made the relevant comment after participating in the leaders' summit on Ukraine security, which was held on Sunday in London at the initiative of British Prime Minister Kim Starmer, the press service of the European Council reports.
"The European Union is ready to work with all our European partners and other allies on a peace plan to Ukraine that will ensure a just and lasting peace for the Ukrainian people. We must learn from the past. We cannot repeat the Minsk experience. We cannot repeat the Afghanistan tragedy. And for that, we need strong security guarantees. Peacemaking goes hand in hand with peacekeeping," the President of the European Council said.
He assured that the work on ensuring a lasting peace in Ukraine continues.
In addition, Costa noted that these consultations were "very useful and important." "I will continue to work with all the EU member states’ leaders to prepare our special European Council on next Thursday," the President of the European Council added.
