URCS continues to familiarize citizens with international humanitarian law

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) continues to work on disseminating knowledge about international humanitarian law (IHL) and protecting the identification emblems of the Red Cross.

“In 2024, some 42 training events on international humanitarian law were held, in which 2,180 participants took part [civil servants, journalists, teachers, students, schoolchildren, scientists, employees and volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society],” the URCS reported on Facebook.

The URCS pays great attention to international activities, in particular, last year the organization initiated a transatlantic campaign to protect the Red Cross emblem #ProtectEmblems, in which more than 10 countries took part. The Ukrainian government delegation took part in the 34th International Conference of the Red Cross in Geneva (Switzerland). The URCS also actively participates in the work of the European Legal Advisory Group, which unites national Red Cross societies of different countries.

Together with partners, information and educational literature was prepared and published: "Compilation of Key Sources on the Use and Protection of the Red Cross Emblem in Ukraine," "Voluntary report in the field of international humanitarian law" of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and manuals for studying IHL.

Specialists of the IHL department of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society continue to work fruitfully in the field of dissemination of knowledge about international humanitarian law aimed at protecting victims of war.
