In Pokrovsk axis, the situation is tense and very dynamic, there are battles for small settlements in areas with low buildings, in Novopavlivka (former Kurakhove) battles are taking place in the steppe areas with greater use of equipment, Spokesman for the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of forces Viktor Trehubov said.
"There are constant systemic attacks by the enemy in Pokrovsk axis, constant battles in populated areas to the south of the city of Pokrovsk. But it should be understood that it is impossible to determine any stability there, or to say: this part is occupied by the enemy, this part is occupied by us, since the situation is very dynamic. This is suburban low-rise buildings, a bunch of satellite villages... There is constant change, often seeming chaotic, although there is a system in it," he said on the air of the nationwide telethon on Monday.
According to him, the enemy's goal is to encircle Pokrovsk. "This goal remains in the foreseeable future, they will try to do this, although it is a long way off. They are supporting Pokrovsk from the south, but there is no talk now of encirclement or partial encirclement. But this is exactly their plan, ours is to prevent this from happening," Trehubov said.
He said that in the former Kurakhove, and now Novopavlivka axis, unlike Pokrovsk, where infantry and small groups fight in small settlements, more equipment and more aviation are used, because there is space for this: fewer settlements and more steppe. Trehubov also spoke about the reasons for renaming Kurakhove axis.
"There are currently heavy battles in Kurakhove area. But it is worth understanding that Kurakhove axis has not disappeared from the report, and in principle the system of directions of the Donetsk operational-tactical group was redistributed due to the fact that the enemy redistributed the vector of efforts that it is making. What was previously called Vremivka axis is now called Novopavlivka axis. And part of the former Kurakhove has been added to it, another part of Kurakhove has been added to Pokrovsk axis. This is because the enemy is currently concentrating its efforts on these directions, on these vectors. It is more logical to call them this way, since these are the paths along which the enemy is moving towards us," Trehubov said.
