Losses of Russian army in 2024 amount to over 430,000 soldiers, 12,000 units of armored vehicles – Ministry of Defense

The occupation army of the Russian Federation in 2024 lost 430,790 soldiers in Ukraine (irrecoverable and sanitary losses), 3,689 tanks, 8,956 combat armored vehicles, 13,050 artillery systems and 313 multiple launch rocket systems were destroyed and damaged, the website of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported on Thursday.

"Some 430,790 military personnel — irretrievable and sanitary losses in manpower, equivalent to 36 motorized rifle divisions of the ground forces. Some 3,689 tanks — destroyed and knocked out, conditionally 119 tank battalions. Some 8,956 armored fighting vehicles — more than 37 motorized rifle divisions. Some 13,050 artillery systems — enough to equip 725 artillery divisions. Some 313 MLRS, 407 air defense systems — turned into scrap metal," the department reports.

The Ministry of Defense notes that the Russian army suffered its greatest losses in December and November 2024.

"In 2024, the largest figure of irretrievable and sanitary losses in the aggressor's manpower for a month was recorded in December 2024 — 48,670 soldiers. This is also the largest figure since the beginning of the large-scale invasion. The previous large-scale figures of losses of the Russian army in manpower were recorded at the end of November 2024 — 45,720," the report says.

It is also reported that in November 2024, the largest number of destroyed enemy vehicles of various purposes was recorded since February 2022 — 2,469, the total number of such equipment for the year is 21,345 units.
