Czech Republic not to send its soldiers to Ukraine, ammunition initiative could continue if other countries finance it – Babiš

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš stated after the Coalition of the Willing meeting in Paris that the Czech ammunition initiative could continue if it received funding from other countries.

"Every country has different options, and like some other leaders, I have precautions regarding some points of the declaration [agreed upon in Paris by the Coalition of the Willing]. The Czech Republic, like several other countries, does not expect to send its soldiers as part of a peacekeeping mission," Babiš’ press service quoted him as saying.

The Prime Minister also stated that the Czech Republic would continue the ammunition initiative, provided that other countries would finance it. "Although I still have a meeting of the National Security Council to learn more details about the ammunition initiative, after all the meetings I’ve already attended and in agreement with my coalition partners, I have decided that we will not cancel the ammunition initiative. The project will continue, and the Czech Republic will serve as the coordinator. No Czech citizens’ money will be invested in the ammunition initiative. It must be transparent and free from corruption," Babiš added.
