Sybiha welcomes EU Council decision to impose additional sanctions in response to Iran's arms supplies to Russia
Ukraine welcomes today's decision of the EU Council to impose additional sanctions in response to Iran's arms supplies to Russia, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said.
"We welcome today’s EU Council decision to impose additional sanctions in response to Iran's weapons transfers to Russia. Military assistance to an aggressor violates international law and the UN Charter. Those who support aggression must share responsibility and pay the price," Sybiha said on X social media.
Earlier on Monday, the European Union imposed restrictive measures on seven Iranian individuals and seven entities involved in Tehran's transfer of missiles and drones to Russia.
The Council adopted restrictive measures today against seven individuals and seven entities following Iran's transfer of missiles and drones to Russia. The decision follows the European Council's instruction in March 2024 that if Iran transfers ballistic missiles and related technology to Russia for use against Ukraine, the EU will be ready to respond swiftly, including with new and significant restrictive measures.
The lists include three Iranian airlines (Saha Airlines, Mahan Air and Iran Air) and two procurement firms.
In addition, the EU decided to impose restrictive measures on Iran's Deputy Defense Minister Seyed Hamzeh Ghalandari, senior officials of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force (IRGC-QF), the IRGC Central Headquarters Khatam al-Anbiya and the IRGC Aerospace Force Space Wing, as well as the managing directors of Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries (HESA) and the Aerospace Industries Organization (AIO), both EU-registered companies.
The sanctions include asset freezes and a travel ban to the EU.
In addition, it is prohibited to provide funds or economic resources, directly or indirectly, to or for the benefit of individuals, legal entities, organizations or bodies included in the list.
