The Mine Action Office of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has begun work in Ukraine, said Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.
"This is a coordinating body responsible for planning, monitoring and the practical component of performing demining tasks. It also carries out certification and quality control of the work of mine action operators," Klymenko wrote on Telegram on Thursday.
According to him, over the past 24 hours alone, deminers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system have surveyed more than 200 hectares of territory and destroyed about 600 explosive objects.
"The launch of the Mine Action Office is an important step in countering the mine threat in Ukraine. It will help not only strengthen control over mine clearance, coordination of this process, but also interact more effectively with citizens in the field of mine safety," Klymenko noted.
