Zelenskyy awards orders to statesmen of partner countries, intl organizations
On Independence Day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded various state awards to statesmen of Ukraine's partner countries and international organizations "for their significant personal contribution to strengthening interstate cooperation, supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and popularizing the Ukrainian state in the world."
According to decree of the President of Ukraine No. 576/2024 of August 23, 2024, the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 1st degree, was received, in particular, by Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo, President of Estonia Alar Karis, Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida, and Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson.
The Order of Merit, 1st class, was awarded to Secretary General of the Organization of American States Luis Almagro, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, and the Order of Merit, 2nd class, to Special Representative of the President of France for Economic Aid and Reconstruction of Ukraine Pierre Heilbronn.
The Order of Princess Olha, 1st class, was awarded to U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić, and U.S. Special Representative for Economic Recovery Penny Pritzker. The Order of Merit, 3rd class, was awarded to UN System Coordinator in Ukraine in 2022-2024 Denise Brown. The Order of Princess Olha, 2nd class, was awarded to U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Laura Cooper.
A total of 41 people were awarded.
In a separate document, decree 575/2024, Zelenskyy awarded the Order of Liberty to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Pierre James Trudeau.
