The Ukrainian side sent an invitation to Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi to visit Ukraine, Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Heorhiy Tykhyi has said, adding that China showed interest in this proposal.
"Yes, we sent an invitation. […] We are ready to receive Mr. Wang Yi in Ukraine so that he can see with his own eyes the consequences of Russian aggression against our country and in order to hold even deeper talks with him on a range of bilateral, regional, international issues. And I believe the dialogue between Ukraine and China will continue at all levels," he told a press briefing on Tuesday.
According to the spokesperson, the dialogue between Ukraine and China has been noticeably intensified since the beginning of this year and "it is very important for Kyiv and Beijing to hold a direct dialogue, especially on peace-related issues."
"So, yes, we sent the invitation [to Wang Yi]. I cannot say on behalf of the Foreign Ministry of China when such visit may be held. They took interest in our proposal. […] We will be glad to welcome Wang Yi in Ukraine," Tykhyi said.
