NCER to cancel Rotterdam+ formula from July 2019 due to transfer to new electricity market
The National Commission for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation (NCER) intends from July 1, 2019 to cancel its resolution No. 289 of March 3, 2016 on the introduction of formula pricing for steam coal on the principle of "cost in the port of Rotterdam plus the cost of delivery to Ukraine."
The draft decision on invalidating this and a number of other decisions of the NCER is put on the agenda of the regulator's meeting scheduled for August 23.
"In order to bring the regulatory and legal framework of the regulator to the requirements of the law of Ukraine on the electricity market", the decision reads.
As reported, a new electricity market has to start operation in Ukraine from July 1, 2019. At the same time, the price of electricity sold by thermal power plants and other producers will be regulated solely by the market demand and supply.
