Ukraine preparing modernization of An-70 within new international cooperation
Ukraine is preparing a program for the modernization of military transport An-70 aircraft with a maximum cargo capacity of 47 tonnes in the framework of a new international cooperation involving Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Turkey.
According to the press service of Ukroboronprom state concern, plans for cooperation within the An-70 program became one of the topics discussed by the parties during the international aerospace show Dubai Airshow 2017, which takes place in Dubai (the UAE) on November 12-16.
"Companies from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey expressed their readiness to participate in the modernization of the aircraft," the report said.
The measures of the modernization program include, among other things, equipping the transport airline with new avionics, as well as ensuring import substitution of Russian components.
"As part of modernization, it is planned to expand the unique characteristics of the aircraft, first of all, thanks to the advanced digital systems," the press service said.
