Leadership of Antonov state-run enterprise to be tried for obstructing legitimate activities of military led to Mriya destruction

Prosecutors of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) have sent an indictment to the court against the former Director General of the Antonov State Enterprise and his deputy for obstructing the legitimate activities of the military, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reports.

"The investigation found that during the full–scale invasion of Russia into the territory of Ukraine, the heads of the Antonov state-run enterprise prevented the military of the National Guard of Ukraine from performing their official duties on the protection and defense of the airport facility in Hostomel town. They did not allow the National Guard troops entering the airport and forbade them to equip positions, engineering and fortifications for combat missions," the Telegram channel says.

The deliberate delay of the heads of the state-owned enterprise in allowing the military to enter the airport territory allowed the enemy to inflict a fiery defeat on personnel, aircraft, vehicles and airport facilities. As a result of an enemy attack on February 27, 2022, the An-225 Mriya aircraft was destroyed, as well as other aircraft located there.

The actions of the accused led to the loss of control over the strategic and military facility, followed by the temporary occupation of the settlements of Kyiv region adjacent to Hostomel town and created a threat to the national security of Ukraine.

The accused are currently placed in custody.
