PGO prevents collection of UAH 1.5 bln from Ukrzaliznytsia in favor of Sberbank
Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) in Kyiv has prevented the collection of UAH 1.5 billion from public joint-stock company Ukrzaliznytsia in favor of public joint-stock company Sberbank (Kyiv), a subsidiary of Sberbank of Russia.
The press service of the PGO reported that the bank filed a lawsuit to the business court of Kyiv seeking to collect the money from Ukrzaliznytsia as a debt under the credit agreement signed by the banks and Donetsk Railways in 2011. However, the bank had no grounds to collect the debt from Ukrzaliznytsia, as the state-run enterprise is being liquidated.
"PGO in Kyiv joined the hearing of the case to protect the interests of the state and prevent the unlawful collection of a large sum from the enterprise, the only shareholder in which is the state in the person of the Cabinet of Ministers. During the hearing the business court of Kyiv upheld the proofs of the PGO and did not allow the bank to collect the debt," the PGO said.
